Hello, hello!

AllisonI’m Allison. I’m very pleased you made your way to my blog! I certainly hope you find something useful here.

My passions are likely evident. I love to teach and tinker with all things creative and computer-related and find these two things take up most of my time. I’m a web designer at Envy Labs and “moonlight” as an instructor at the University of Central Florida, teaching introductory classes on computers and web design.

In my spare time I like to take and edit photos, read up on social psychology, play video games, and pursue creative projects.

Here are some fun facts:

  • I created my first website at 11 and started my first web business at 15. The profession stuck—I would have it no other way!
  • I once got into a scrap with an orangutan and, naturally, won. (It’s true!)
  • Star Trek: The Next Generation is my favorite television series of all time.
What’s the Word?

The best way to get a hold of me is through Twitter. If Facebook is your connective tool of preference, I’m there as well. I’d love to hear from you!

Let’s Talk About You

That’s quite enough about me. The real individual of interest is you!

Every man I meet is my superior in some way. In that, I learn of him.

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

If you’re inclined, please tell me about yourself. I’ve opened comments just for this, so feel free to leave one—maybe with your specialty, related aspirations, or why you’re here… but you can say anything!

Thank you very much for reading.

Until next time,

Allison H.

I really like the finished painted sphere from your tutorial. Do you have a higher resolution version of it I could buy from you?

From a command-line interface in 1982 to the dazzle of the present internet, I have watched the evolution of technology and talent into an incredible fusion of human communication and spirit.
I marvel at the skill, the aesthetic and am in awe and envy of the talent. I am only an observer with a naive eye, wishing that I was more.

Hi
I am trying to get my creative side up and running again after many years. I do a lot of photo enhancements but have yet to use the painting tools. I want to attempt digital painting as oils and acrylics were always too involved. I have Photoshop CS version 8 loaded. Is this OK? Which tablet would you recommend i begin with?
By the way – your stuff is great!!

Hi! Your tutorials are so helpful, thank you! Will you be doing a tutorial on how you created your “about me photo”? The colors and lighting is very beautiful!
