Cinematic Sunday is your weekly dose of inspiring imagery from movies and television. This week, we have scenes from television’s Pushing Daisies, a series that consistently used beautiful color palettes and composition to bring life to the neo-noir fairytale.

Oooh this is going to be a good series… I think some scenes from Milk should be there, along with maby some anime like Hayao Miyazaki’s Princess Mononoke (Maby one of Japan’s most famous movies) and Spirited Away. (If the most famous is not Princess Mononoke, it’s this).

Though most of those are brilliant scenes, things like the last one are more lighting, shadows and atmosphere (the cream curtains and stuffs) than the colors, as the colors are all whites and cremes… though I love the use of red and white in the 3rd to last one…

Yeah, there are lots of different reasons things can be aesthetically appealing! Hopefully looking at beautiful or otherwise emotion-invoking imagery can help us all develop our intuitive sense for those aesthetics.
